Record box office at new theatre
CANTERBURY'S new Marlowe Theatre is celebrating record box office figures following anther sell-out success.
King's School's production of West Side Story was the latest to pack out the £25.6 million city-centre venue.
Bosses say they have already exceeded their target of selling 160,000 tickets in the first year by selling 172,000 inside the first six months.
More than 1,500 have already booked to see Dirty Dancing in April 2013 and a record-breaking 83,000 saw Cinderella.

Theatre director Mark Everett said: "Many producers coming to our theatre say they are getting some of the best results of their tours. "This is fantastic news but not surprising given our new building and wide variety of shows in the auditorium and Studio."
The theatre now has a record number of Marlowe Friends at 12,000.
