Ramsgate's new ferry "one step closer"
THE eagerly anticipated high-speed ferry expected to run from Ramsgate to Boulogne in France was photographed at a secret location on the continent.
The photograph shows the former Tenerife ferry has been painted in Euroferries' colours a significant sign that the new service is imminent.

The first sight of the ferry set to start from Ramsgate
South Thanet MP Stephen Ladyman, who had a "helper" take the photos, said: "I'm excited that the project is moving forward.
"These photographs are the first physical proof that the service is getting closer.
"I know Thanet council and Euroferries are working hard on finalising agreements and I hope they will conclude them now as rapidly as possible so that this new service can get underway and start boosting our local economy."
Euroferries had planned to run a service four times a day with a crossing expected to take 75 minutes.

“This story looks like being the 2009 white elephant (or red herring) of Europe's ferry industry. A weaker pound has hit the booze cruise market out of the UK severely, and routes are being thinned out. Witness the demise this week of the new Dover to Dieppe service launched just this past February. I'd be willing to stake my last rouble on Ramsgate to Boulogne never actually getting started. Overhyped, oversold, I'm afraid, for jus far too long. It's a pity, to be sure, but I never really had the impression that Euroferries were serious.”

“One would think a new high speed ferry service linking the Kent town of Ramsgate with the French port of Boulogne would be heralded as good news.
I urge readers to look again at this and consider if there is a deeper conspiracy that could scupper the venture.
Whilst the majority of ¿holiday makers¿ and ¿goods¿ are brought to our country from Calais to Dover, a silent but increasing number of people & good are arriving via places such as Newhaven, Sheerness and now Ramsgate.
Go back to the 1980¿s and Folkestone was a flourishing port served by Sealink ferries such as Hengist, Horsa and Vortigern. But then the Government of Margaret Thatcher, through stealthy means, eradicated these.
To many it looked like economics and the failure of unprofitable sea routes, but a small number of people know this was done as retaliation for the Napoleonic War.
All I can say is ¿history will as history may well ne¿er do well do again.¿
Should this service establish itself, I fear that it will not survive should David Cameron come to power and continue the secret work of the Tory Party. That is, to once again make us an island nation and sever links with France.”

“Mr Ladyman should check his facts it is simple really all ships now have an ais system r(automatic Ident system) rather like an aircraft and it transmits info about the ship ie important in this case where it is. This info is accessible on line if you check the bonanza expresses AIS info you find it is stationary and still in Las Palmas Suprise suprise our poiticians are wonderful inteligent people ex shipping minister and he hasn't heard of AIS what a clown”

“That incat is painted in Fred Olsen colours, someone has imposed Euroferries sign on the side.
Shame though, but im sure this service wil never start, LD have beaten them to it with a bigger vessel, quicker time and it takes all traffic.”

“Strange the boulogne chamber of commerce have given upon this and the berth has been altered to accomodate the LD boats”
