RAMSGATE councillors will hit the road today (Friday) to get views from residents on the council’s future plans.

Ramsgate town council will visit four locations across Ramsgate over the course of the next week.

Town mayor David Green said: “The size of the responsibilities that the new council must undertake will shock many people who voted for a town council in the referendum that led to its formation.

“I am determined to consult with residents over those areas of the council’s budget that we have some discretion over.”

Cllr Green said he hopes to tackle next year’s budget, allotments, town council office accommodation, town clerk cost, mayor’s and deputies’ allowances, election costs and  entertainment event plans.

He added: “This is an important opportunity for people in Ramsgate to have their say on our future. We will be much more effective with the people of Ramsgate behind us.”

All the meetings start at 7pm and will take place:

Tonight (Friday) January 22 at St Lawrence church hall, St Lawrence High Street (Nethercourt ward).

Tuesday, January 26 at St Mark’s church hall, Margate Road (Northwood ward).

Wednesday, January 27 at Albion House

(Pegwell, Central Harbour Eastcliff & Sir Moses Montefiore wards).

Thursday, January 28 at Newington Community Centre (Newington ward).
