Raffle raised charity funds
CUSTOMERS and staff at a village store were thanked for their support after they raised more than £1,400 for Hawkhurst Cottage Hospital.
Jempsons Budgens on Rye Road held a raffle to raise cash for the charity, with a barbecue grill as the main prize.

Charity administrator at the hospital's League of Friends said: "Patients, staff and the friends are grateful to Jempsons and others like them who give us so much support and encouragement. The money is well spent. We need all the help we can get."
Manager at the supermarket Carl Anderson said he was pleased the store could help the local community.
"We are an integral part of the community and wish to support it. Hawkhurst Cottage Hospital is a vital local facility."
