Pupils make green issues fun
FOUR ELMS youngsters cut their school's use of electricity by 44 per cent as part of a special green event and plan to go even further next year.
As part of Big Green Day, pupils turned off their computers and instead bagged compost.
The school's head Wendy Fox said: "It was a really fun day and the children enjoyed it. To cut the output by 44 per cent is fantastic."
She explained in the next academic year the aim is to cut the school's use of electricity by five per cent each day.
At the event children also made an iron man out of recycled materials, made their own individual green pledges and received a talk from a parent who is carbon policy manager at Southern Water.
