Post View Open Exhibition at the Horsebridge Centre Hailed a Success
The Post View Open Exhibition was hailed as another success for the Horsebridge Centre in Whitstable at the Private Viewing on Thursday (10 May).
Curator Sarah Banville received over 400 hundred postcards of all shapes and sizes on the theme of Your View from hundreds of different artists across Kent. The Postcards and art were made of a wide variety of mediums - paint, pencils drawing, photographic, there were even cards made from fleece, metal and a 3-D cardboard box.
Among the exhibited postcards was one by Sarah herself - a black-and-white drawing of an erupting volcano. There were also two by Dover actress Karol Steele and one from her son, Ben. Karol's postcards are a photomontage of her favourites views of Whitstable, and the other is a triptych of the Richborough cooling towers, taken before, during and after their demolitions along with a short essay on her thoughts and feelings about them. Christchurch drama student, Ben's is a self-portrait called Welcome to My World, A World Called My Mind.
Sarah is hoping that artists and photographers will continue to send in the postcards until the end of the exhibition on 30 June. if you would like to send in a card (or two) send them to Post View, The Horsebridge Centre, 11 Horsebridge Road, Whitstable, CT5 1AF.
