Police appeal for help after woman assaulted in Ashford
KENT Police is appealing for information after a woman in her 20s was assaulted in Ashford.
The victim was walking along the footpath next to Maunsell Place by the river in Newtown at 3.45pm on Thursday when a man grabbed her.
The woman fought the attacker, described as in his early 20s with dark hair and a dark goatee, and was hit on the side of the head.
The man ran off towards the underpass in the direction of Hunter Avenue, under the railway line.

Police would like to speak to a group of school boys who stopped to help the woman, saying they may be important witnesses.
Officers would also like to talk to anyone who may have seen the man as there were people walking dogs and out with their children in pushchairs.
Kent Police is advising people to keep safe when out by sticking to well-lit, busy areas, avoid travelling alone at night, let other people know where you are and when you are due home, act confidently and wear bright or reflective clothing so you can be seen.
