Planning committee round-up:
PLANS to change an office into a home have been recommended for refusal.
David Merryweathers, of Marlborough Road, Margate, wants to convert the garage block behind Luton Avenue into a live-in/work unit.
Planning permission to develop the site into a two-storey office with two garages was originally granted to Mr Merryweathers in October 2010.
Councillor David Saunders branded the latest move "drip-feed development".
He said: "My concern is that we will end up with granny flats or a granny annexe rather than an office."
CONCERNS were raised over an application to extend a house in North Foreland Road.
The applicant, James Keel, of North Foreland, seeks permission for a first-floor extension, rear balcony and decking area, and a two-storey front extension with a double garage. The committee raised concerns over the impact on neighbours.
PLANS to extend a bungalow in Lindenthorpe Road were also a cause for concern.
The application, submitted by Barry Winsons, of Carlton Avenue, would mean a first-floor extension would be built above the bungalow, with a two-storey extension to the rear. The committee raised concerns the development would overlook neighbouring properties and cause them a loss of light.
REVISED plans to redevelop a Broadstairs town centre building were passed without concerns.
Panther Development Investments, of Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, has applied for a condition to be removed from its existing planning permission to develop 8-12 High Street, formerly Bogart's hairdressers to allow the development to be built two feet longer at the back.
