Rising British piano star Ivana Gavric is the performer at Whitstable Music Society's concert at the Methodist Church on Saturday.

As a youngster Sarajevo-born Ivana was taught by her pianist mum and continued her studies at the Guildhall and Cambridge University after she moved to the UK in 1992.

She has performed widely here and abroad and her playing has featured on TV and film soundtracks: in Anthony Minghella's 2006 film Breaking and Entering, it's Ivana's fingers that are playing the Bach, not Juliette Binoche!

Her performances and recordings have been highly praised by the critics, and at 30 she was chosen as BBC Music Magazine's newcomer of the year in 2011.
