Pianist Ivana Gavric is Whitstable Music Society's guest on Saturday April 28
Rising British piano star Ivana Gavric is the performer at Whitstable Music Society's concert at the Methodist Church on Saturday.
As a youngster Sarajevo-born Ivana was taught by her pianist mum and continued her studies at the Guildhall and Cambridge University after she moved to the UK in 1992.
She has performed widely here and abroad and her playing has featured on TV and film soundtracks: in Anthony Minghella's 2006 film Breaking and Entering, it's Ivana's fingers that are playing the Bach, not Juliette Binoche!
Her performances and recordings have been highly praised by the critics, and at 30 she was chosen as BBC Music Magazine's newcomer of the year in 2011.
Her programme for the Whitstable Music Society concert will feature works by Haydn, Grieg and Ravel.
The concert at the Methodist Church, Argyle Road, Whitstable CT5 1JS, on Saturday (April 28) starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £12.50 at the door, from Gill Smyth on 01227 277227, or from Gatefield Sounds in the High Street.
