A GIANT pumpkin has helped a farmer win top prizes at a horticultural show.

Phil Baxter's enormous take on the Halloween favourite was so big it had to stay in a wheelbarrow as organisers of the Biggin Hill Horticultural Society autumn show feared it would break the display table.

Mr Baxter, of Cottage Farm, Cudham, said: "They're quite good this year.

"I don't do anything special, just dump them on the dung heap. It's turkey dung as we're a turkey farm."

He plans to donate the giant pumpkin, and several other large ones, to nearby Knockholt Primary School for its harvest festival and to Harris Hospice Care in Bromley.
