Parking tickets to be issued at Medway hospital
PATIENTS could face £60 fines for parking outside designated areas at Medway Maritime Hospital.
Medway NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, in Windmill Road, Gillingham, will enforce the civil penalty notice scheme across its site.
Security staff will slap tickets on vehicles parked in unauthorised areas or not in a bay.
The fine will be £60, reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days.
A committee will consider appeals.
The hospital has 540 patient and visitor spaces and last year made £1 million from parking charges.
Gareth Hughes, head of facilities said: "The trust receives continual complaints from staff and patients about inappropriate and dangerous parking on the hospital site.
"As a consequence we have explored all enforcement measures to help remedy this.
"The scheme will ensure that all vehicles are parked within a designated bay or area and that people do not park in unauthorised areas."
