Operation Castle yields eight arrests in Thanet
EIGHT people have been arrested in Thanet as part of a three-month crackdown by Kent Police on burglary and vehicle crime.
Operation Castle started on Monday and during a burglary prevention prevention patrol in Margate on Wednesday afternoon officers searched five properties and found suspected stolen property.
Police made five arrests and carried out the searches after seeing a man leaving a house in Ethelbert Road, Cliftonville, carrying a 40 inch flat screen television, partly covered by a bin liner. He was arrested in Northdown Road on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
Back at the property in Ethelbert Road, two 15-year-old boys and two other men were arrested. Two houses in Northdown Road were also searched and a secon flat screen TV, a laptop, X-Box's and computer games were seized.

A 34-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of abstracting electricity and given a police caution for theft.
Earlier in the week, as part of the same operation, a 13-year-old boy from Margate was charged with a burglary at a newsagents in Ramsgate Road on February 4, where he allegedly sole three bottles of Morgan's Spiced Rum, two bottles of Gordon's Gin, and 24 cans of lager.
The boy was also charged with allegedly using racially aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour and spoken to in relation to a number of burglaries across Margate where nine cycles were stolen. He was remanded in custody and is due before Margate Youth Court on February 13.
A 34-year-old man from Birchington was also arrested in connection to several burglaries. He has been released on bail until 12 March while officer make further enquiries.
Finally, a 14-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly kicking in a window of a sandwich bar in Margate on Tuesday night and stole cash. He was detained by people in a nearby pub and has been charged with burglary other than a dwelling and released on bail to answer before Margate Youth Court on March 6.
