Number of suspects arrested in Ashford and Shepway since start of year
NINE suspects have been arrested in Shepway and Ashford since the turn of the year, including teenagers aged 15 and 16, Kent Police has revealed.
Amongst those hauled in by officers was a 23-year-old man from New Romney in relation to an alleged burglary in the town. He was released on bail until Friday, January 18.
A 15-year-old boy from Folkestone was arrested on Saturday, January 12, on suspicion of a break-in in the town. He was released on bail until April 10.
Another was 33-year-old Lee Sean Hamilton who was arrested shortly after breaking into Boots in Ashford on Wednesday, January 2. He appeared before video link at Canterbury Magistrates' Court two days later where he pleaded guilty to burglary and a separate shoplifting offence. He was sentenced to 180 days in prison for burglary and 90 days for theft, to run concurrently.
