New isle art is a mixed bag
ART abounds across the isle this week with two new shows and a workshop with a professional artist being staged.
At least 80 works in various media will be unveiled at 8pm at The Belgian Cafe, Harbour Parade, Ramsgate this evening. Off the Cuff is a joint exhibition of paintings, drawings and prints by Thanet artists Tina Rowland and Mike Samson and continues until Thursday, September 9. The show is being staged in aid of the RNLI Breast Cancer Research UK charities.

Over at the Community Pharmacy Gallery in Margate, Canterbury artist Richard Dwyer is exhibiting a thought-provoking show based on his memories of holidays in south-west Ireland. Beara, The View From In Here, looks at the ghostly images of Beara conjured up in the artist's mind while living back home. The show runs from Wednesday for a week and is open between 11am and 6pm.
For those who want to have a go themselves, Lovelys gallery in Cliftonville is staging a series of landscape workshops, the first between 10am and 4pm on Thursday.
Oast House, with Terry Harrison, is for intermediate to advanced artists and covers how to deal with textures, foliage and tree details, plus how to master masking fluid. The £35 fee covers all materials including a pre-prepared drawing by Terry.
