New business for pub site
WORK is under way to transform the former Duke of Kent pub site into an industrial unit.
The derelict pub, on the Thanet Way near Brenley Corner, was demolished in 2009 after it was damaged by a fire.
The site has been empty ever since.
Now CT21 Construction has laid the foundations for a steel-framed industrial block on the 1.4-hectare site which is expected to provide up to 70 jobs.

The site will be used by Dunster House, a company specialising in making self-assembly timber garden sheds and log cabins.
Construction boss Gareth Morgan said work began on the site in late February and was expected to finish by September this year.
The plans, which also include parking for 52 cars and 15 lorries, follow a rejected planning application for the site to be used as a care home in 2006.
