NEW Miss Sheppey Louise Chilley is all set to raise the profile of the Island at carnivals throughout the county.

Louise, 18, from Sheerness, a hairdressing student at Sheppey College, was chosen at the selection event at Bonds Sports and Social Club, Sheerness.

It was a close call for the title, with only one point between each of the top five girls.

Senior princesses will be Annaleise Solecki, 16, and Joanne Strudwick, 15.

Junior Miss Sheppey is Jenna Ball, 13, whose princesses will be Brooke Baxter, 13, and Alanta Kramer, 11.

Sheppey Rosebud is Poppie Ralph.

The girls have already been busy, attending selection dances in Ramsgate, Sandwich and Folkestone.

Sheppey Summer Carnival Club spokesman, Denis Wigham-McCall, said: “Our carnival is going from strength to strength.

“The committee has started making plans for this year’s carnival on August 21 and other fundraising events in the run up to the big day, so hopefully it should be even bigger and better than last year.”

Meanwhile the theme of this year’s Sheppey Carnival float remains under wraps.
