Net catch of the day
A MARGATE bar is launching a fresh, new menu at one of the best spots in Thanet.
The Lighthouse Bar recently re-opened following works to improve flood defences around the old stone pier.
Owner Simon Craig is taking full advantage of the picturesque spot on Margate harbour by serving the catch fresh from the fishing boats.
The Margate-born 41-year-old has returned to his roots after living in Africa and a decade on the high seas as a cruise ship casino manager.

His new chef John Ferbarche's menu showcases the catch of the day so expect the freshest sea bass, cod or sole as he insists on a movable feast based only on the freshest ingredients.
There will be a few signature dishes such as John's fantastic fish pie but the menu will depend on the seasonal produce that's sourced.
To wash down the cutting edge cuisine, Simon serves prime German pilsener Krombacher on tap with the best bottled beers from around the world.
Regular live music on Sundays will provide entertainment but this place hardly needs it with picturesque panoramas from the pier.
Simon has recently taken over Miles Bar in Ramsgate, another contender for Thanet's top terrace, and leads the way in al fresco drinking and dining on the isle.
