On Tuesday, he had regained consciousness, but police are appealing for witnesses to find out what happened.
DS Bishop, senior investigating officer, appealed for information.
He said: "We are particularly interested in speaking with a man who was driving a white Transit-sized van, who initially stopped and assisted the injured rider and subsequently left the scene prior to police arrival."
