MP wins Commons debate over axed trains
AXED City commuter trains will be discussed by Parliament, following an MP's campaign.
Sir John Stanley has finally been successful in the ballot for a House of Commons debate.
The Malling MP said: "I shall be making the strongest case I can for the reinstatement of the rail services on the Maidstone East line into Cannon Street, Charing Cross and London Bridge."
Since the service was scrapped earlier this month, commuters from West Malling and surrounding villages have been driving to alternative stations such as Sevenoaks or travelling to the already over-crowded Victoria Station and travelling across London on public transport.
The services will be discussed on Wednesday January 6 from 11 to 11.30am in Westminster Hall.
Sir John is appealing for constituents to write to him with details of how the lost service has affected their everyday lives.
He will be arguing that commuters now face longer and more costly journeys and that the cuts take a greater toll on family life.
