MEDWAY and Maidstone’s men did as much as possible to win the Kent League on Saturday, but they were ultimately pipped for the title.

Leading prior to the final fixture, but narrowly beaten by Tonbridge at the Parkwood School, Swanley, they finished level on league points with their great rivals.

On match points, though, Tonbridge were came out on top and won the four-per-side prize.

That left the 12-to-score trophy – it’s actually a block of wood with a chrome inscription – which was won by M&M for the eighth time in the last 11 years.

Tom Collins was at least part of a winning team then and rightly so since he has performed outstandingly in KML matches during the season. This time he finished sixth. Overall fourth.

Amy Tanner was M&M’s first finisher in the Kent Women’s League.

The Gillingham student gave a polished performance around the tough course in Swanley and in finishing sixth achieved the club’s highest female placing of the season.
