Low score defended
BROADSTAIRS II enjoyed an extremely narrow win away against Hythe II in the KCL Division One Second XI League.
Batting first, Broadstairs posted a below-par 137 all out from 47.2 overs. Opener Terry Bond, who has been called up to the first team as a result of his knock, top-scored with 42 as he edged towards 300 runs for the season.
In reply, a half-century from number three Matthew Walters (54) was not enough as a late order collapse saw Hythe lose their last five batsmen for single figures as Broadstairs won the game by five runs.
MARGATE II had a day to forget away at Hawkinge II on Saturday in the Kent Regional Cricket League 2C East.
