A POLISH lorry driver has been rushed to hospital after he was rescued from the sea in the Port of Ramsgate.

Ramsgate RNLI's inshore lifeboat was launched at 11.45pm last Thursday (December 10) night following a report a man had jumped into the sea near the docks.

The man was quickly recovered and passed to an awaiting ambulance crew, which took him to Thanet hospital. It is believed he has since made a full recovery.

A spokesman for Traneuropa Ferries said the haulier had travelled on their boat from Ostend, but the incident happened after he had left the ship.

The UK Border Agency, who patrol the frontier at the port, said they were not investigating the incident.
