Lordswood misery goes on and on
by Darrell Harman
THE football season can't finish too soon for Lordswood, who suffered two more defeats over the Bank Holiday weekend and who can't do better than second bottom in the Bulmers Cider Kent Premier League.
Defensive errors were their problem against Slade Green on Monday, the visitors going ahead on two minutes and winding up with a 4-2 scoreline under their belts.
Jason Long got that early goal and Lordswood could and maybe should have equalised two minutes later when Darren Bridges squeezed between two defenders before picking out Mark Rothery in the area. His attempt went straight at Durrell, who saved it easily.
Lords equalised in the 32nd minute, just after Slade Green had been denied what looked a stone-dead penalty.
The home side went straight up the other end where Duane Carter headed in from 10 yards.
They weren't level for long as another long ball caught the defence out and Masade made it 2-1 just before the interval.
The second half was only two minutes old when Lordswood equalised through a Nicky Minshull header. Moments later minute another Carter header drifted marginally wide and Joel Melville's cracker was thwarted by a splendid save.
Bridges missed the target from, six yards and there was every reason to be optimistic.
Until Green regained their lead in the 63rd minute when Long waltzed past three attempted tackles before scoring. Ten minutes and the points were secured by Algala, who was alone as he beat Oravec from close range.
PATCHED-UP Lords went down 1-0 at the hands of Norton Sports on Saturday. They had 10 players missing and were beaten by a 71st minute tap-in by Harry Goodger after Oravec had palmed away a 25-yard free-kick.
The home side had their moments and Minshull, Mike Holliday, Rothery and Melville all had decent chances, but none was taken and Norton completed the double.
