Lighting the way
FINAL preparations are being put in place for a special celebration to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee next month.
Dover's beacon at the castle has been repaired and restored in time for the national Light of the Beacons event on June 4.

Dover Town Council has been working in partnership with English Heritage to bring the feature back into working order following its last use during the previous jubilee celebrations.
A trial lighting has already taken place to make sure everything is in working order.

On June 4, at approximately 10pm, beacons around the country, including Dover's, will be lit in honour of the Queen's 60-year reign with the National Beacon being lit by Her Majesty at 10.30pm.
DTC and English Heritage will hold a small reception at the visitor centre at Dover Castle to celebrate the prestigious event.
