THE culmination of Lamberhurst Golf Club Captains' week was the annual Captain's Day held on Saturday 27th June. 158 golfers took part in two separate 18 hole shotgun stableford competitions, played in hot but dry conditions, with some excellent scores recorded.

Each competition consisted of three divisions with the morning won by Peter Gregory (Div 1) with 41 points, Max King (Div 2) 45 points and Rolf Smith (Div 3) 48 points. The afternoon competition was won by Jeremy Hilder (Div 1) 39 points, Craig Hendleman (Div 2) 39 points and Tom Turner (Div 3) 40 points. The overall Captain's Prize was won by Rolf Smith with his excellent morning score.

Almost £1,000 was raised during the day for the Captain's charity, The Alzheimers Society.

The previous day 84 golfers from clubs all over Kent & Sussex took part in the inaugural "Three Captains" event involving teams of Club, Ladies' and Vets' Captains. The event was won by the team from Westerham, comprising of David Morris, Denny Tickel and Danny Clark. The prize for the home teams was won by the 2009 Vice Captains team of Ian Daker, Carole Bickerstaff and John Connolly whilst the prize for the best score for the accompanying players was won by Clive Herrington. Over £400 was raised for the Lamberhurst Captains' charities by a "Beat the Pro" competition involving Lamberhurst Club professional Brian Impett at the 7th hole.

Earlier in the week the Vets' Captains Day was won by Graham Williams and the Ladies' Captains Day by Sophia Davies. The latter event also included a hole in one at the 7th by Jeanette Bentham.
