Peter Skinner MEP
Born in Oxford in June 1959 he graduated from Bradford University with a BSc (Hons) in economics and politics. Later, he studied as a post-graduate at Warwick University in industrial relations and labour law. He studied further at the University of Greenwich for a post-graduate certificate in education and qualified in personnel management at the University of Coventry. After his studies, he worked as a trade union organiser and in industrial relations, then as an university lecturer. He graduated as a Fellow at the University of Sunderland. He has written for various periodicals and has published a pamphlet in the area of industrial relations.
Peter was first elected as MEP for Kent West in 1994. After the reorganisation of EU electoral boundaries he was re-elected as a South East MEP.
He is a vice patron of The Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsy.
Janet Sully
Graduated in French and Russian and speaks German. Was a secondary school teacher before setting up in business. Has two adult sons and was the main carer for her elderly mother. Serving West Sussex county councillor and a European parliamentary candidate in 2004.
Robert James Fromant
A Unite/Amicus workplace shop steward for 20 years and a Surrey parish councillor. Has worked as an aircraft maintenance engineer in several European countries.

Representative on Unite’s national political committee.
Stephen Alambritis
Works for a small business organisation where he has been involved on a number of task forces at European Commission level. A member of the National Union of Journalists and Unite trade union. A football association referee and a member of the real ale group, CAMRA.
Janet Keene
A working mother of three, the youngest of whom is still in school. Works for the teaching union NASUWT as a regional official for the South East.
Also a school governor of a large secondary school, and has been involved in a number of local charities and community organisations. A Borough Councillor on Bracknell Forest Borough Council from 1995 until 2000.
Munir Malik
Lives in Welling. Munir have three grown-up children and an eight-year-old daughter. Worked as a senior manager in local government. Former councillor in Bexley, a member of GMB and active in the Co-operative Movement.
Also a school governor and serves on the board of a local co-operative housing association. Has worked as a volunteer on holiday schemes for young people with physical disabilities and as a financial advisor to a local women’s refuge.
Silke Thomson
Works for the Labour Party in the European Parliament. A school governor and founding director of Bridge International Dialogue - a voluntary organisation, which provides a forum for young people to debate global issues beyond national boundaries. Has been an active trade union member since the age of 16 currently a member of the GMB union.
Rajinder Singh Sandhu
Self-employed sub-postmaster, former Slough councillor.
Sukhjit Kaur Dhaliwal
Currently lead councillor for Education and Children's Services on Slough council.
