IN A thrilling match, the outcome was not decided until the very last ball.

Ightham, down to their last pair, needed three to win off the last ball. Ice-cool Ken Cowan sent down the perfect yorker to bowl the last man and break the home side's hearts.

Knockers had earlier posted a reasonable score on the rain-affected wicket. John Boland hit a fine 69 with a number of other batsmen chipping in, including Grant Sykes (21).

M Canniford (2-44) and A Barton (2-51) bowled well for the home team.

In reply, the Ightham batsmen pushed it ever so close, but fine work in the increasing gloom from Knockers's bowlers – Harry Elliot (2-27), Ken Cowan (3-49), Ed Darry (2-29) – did just enough to win the day.
