The open women's singles was King's best event. After easily winning her group, she achieved peak performance in putting out second seed Karina Le Fevre (Cleveland) 11-8, 11-5, 6-11, 11-8.

In the semi-finals, she gave eventual event winner Yuko Tsuji (Japan) her closest match before going down 8-11, 5-11,11-6,11-8. King again also had mixed results in the under 21 singles and was disappointed to go down 11-13, 8-11, 7-11 to England no 13 Natalie Slater (Staffordshire) in King's third semi-final.

Lewis Gray put in some good performances while representing England in the Polish Junior Open, part of the International Premier Junior Circuit, at Cetniewo.

Gray beat the top player Michal Pavolka (Slovakia) in his junior singles group (11-7, 11-6, 4-11, 11-8) and was unlucky not to qualify for the knock-out rounds.

With Sam Walker (Nottinghamshire) in the boys' doubles knock-out, Gray beat Poles Mateusz Dykowski and Marcin Sankowski in straight games, but they then fell to number two seeds Tamas Lakatos and Adam Szudi, from Hungary, 6-11, 7-11, 11-7, 9-11.
