​DESPITE the best efforts of Darren Stevens with the bat and then James Tredwell with the ball Kent fell to defeat against Northants in their County Championship game at Canterbury.

Stevens added 42 to his overnight score before he was last out as Kent were dismissed for 320 - a lead of 107.

Tredwell then picked up three wickets as Northants chased down the Kent lead, eventually crossing the line to win by five wickets.
