HELP choose the 12 Kent cricket greats who most deserve a place in a Legends Walkway.

Those selected will be honoured by a place in the walkway, which is part of the redevelopment of the St Lawrence ground in Canterbury.

  1. Kent Legends Walkway - choose your favourite cricket hero

We short-listed 40 of the county's cricketing greats - and that was a pretty tough process in itself.

The 40 were selected by a distinguished committee of experts headed by Kent county cricket club curator David Robertson. Alongside him were statistician Howard Milton, cricket historian Derek Carlaw and KRN&M senior sports editor Tony Rickson.

They decided that no current Kent player would be considered for inclusion on the basis that legendary status can only be acquired in retrospect.

The names of their chosen 40 have been appearing in the following newspapers: Kent and Sussex Courier; Dover Express (and Deal & Sandwich Express); Folkestone Herald (and Hythe Herald and Romney Marsh Herald); Ashford Herald; Isle of Thanet Gazette; Medway News; East Kent Gazette (and Sheppey Gazette); Canterbury Times (and Whitstable Times, Faversham Times and Herne Bay Times).

MEMBERS and supporters can be a part of the new Legends Walkway by buying their own brick, or perhaps one in memory of a loved one. As part of the promotion, a portion of the income from the funds generated will go to Demelza, the club's official charity. Go to www.kentcricket.co.uk for full details.
