Kay-Jay is moving up in the world
A THANET College graduate met the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street last week after being nominated for a community award.
Kyle Simmons, aka Kay-Jay, studied performing arts in Thanet and runs community music workshops for disadvantaged kids.
The Spirit of London Award was set up by the Damilola Taylor Trust to recognise young people who do valuable work in the community.
In recognition of his achievement, he was invited to meet the PM to discuss his work.
After going into care at the age of three, Kay-Jay moved to Thanet.
After being expelled from King Ethelbert's School, he was encouraged to pursue performing arts by former teacher Ruth Hart.
He is starring alongside Phil Daniels in The God of Soho play at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London until September 30.
