Monday brought the moment of truth as the crops were unearthed and weighed to find the most successful gardener.

It was a close contest but Jean Ifill, from Sutton Cottage Antiques, pipped the others to the post with a haul weighing in at 1lb 15oz.

The event was also supported by Herne Bay Allotment Society.
