Invicta's price cut
FOLKESTONE INVICTA are cutting their entrance fees in half for Saturday's game against Walton Casuals as a gesture of goodwill to their loyal fans.
The Cheriton Road faithful saw Invicta surrender their unbeaten home league record in embarrassing fashion against Merstham on a Saturday-to-forget.
And as a way of apologising to their devoted supporters, the club have slashed the price of admission and any shortfall will be made up out of the wages of the Invicta players and their manager Neil Cugley.
Adults will pay just £4 and concessions will be let in at £2. Kick-off at Cheriton Road is at 3pm.
Cugley said: "We're cutting the price of admission but we don't want the club to lose out, so any money we'd normally take me and the players are chipping in to make up.
"It'd be nice to get a big crowd down there as we didn't play how we could on Saturday.
"You don't set out to play like that and it wasn't for the want of trying.
"We want to pay back our loyal fans as they're a terrific bunch and they didn't deserve what we gave them Saturday.
"We want to keep our fans on board and they deserve a bit back because there's a lot of home games and I want people to come and support us.
"We'll put on a better show than Saturday and hopefully people will come along and get behind us.
"It's our way of saying thanks and sorry that we didn't get a result on Saturday."
Invicta were never at the races against Merstham and the absence of suspended centre-half Liam Friend was a big loss.
Cugs said: "It was a strange game but to be fair to them they played really well.
"Their lad up front slaughtered us and we did miss Liam Friend who was suspended.
"Their striker gave Dicko (Liam Dickson) and Chaps (Frankie Chappell) a bad time and they scored at the right times.
"We're struggling a little bit at the moment as when Kingy doesn't score or Marzo doesn't play well we find it hard to get going.
"I don't think we've played well in January to be fair. We were superb in December but six points out of 15 isn't the form of a table-topping side.
"I thought we were the best side in the league in December but in January we just haven't been at the races.
"It was disappointing our home record went in that manner but there's a lot of teams who'd want a record of one loss in 11."
The lack of goals is also a worry for Cugley, who is looking for a quick change.
"If you'd have said to me a few weeks ago we wouldn't score in two consecutive games I'd be very shocked," he said.
"We looked like we could score goals for run but both of my front runners seem to have gone a bit quiet.
"Marsden came in and set the place alive but he's gone a bit quiet and we've struggled a bit.
"We set high standards and we've got to get back to them.
"We're not making excuses we've just got to make February a better month than January."
Marsden is unavailable for Saturday while Cugley has Friend back from suspension.
"I'll stay loyal with the players I've got as they're a great bunch of lads," he said.
"But if things don't change I'll have to mix it up.
"Antonio (Gonnella) and Ausso (Simon Austin) may get a go."
