Invicta make top-of-table clash free and a memorial match for local soldier
FOLKESTONE Invicta's top of the table clash with Croydon Athletic on Saturday will be preceded by tributes to young soldier Peter Aldridge whose recently became the 250th British serviceman killed in the Afghanistan conflict.
The club twice planned a minute's silence before recent matches, but both games had to be postponed due to the recent weather conditions.
Chairman Lynn Woods, the driving force behind the memorial, believes this match is even more fitting as the soldier's family, who live in Horn Street, moved to Folkestone from Croydon only two years ago.
Representatives from service organisations are among those expected to attend, along with local dignatories, members of the armed forces and other sections of the community.
Admission to the game is free but there will be collections for the British Legion and Help For Heroes charities.
