This year the competition attracted girls' and boys' teams from IAPS schools as far afield as Dulwich Prep, Cranbrook and Kent College Pembury, as well as local teams from schools including New Beacon, St Michael's and Granville.

Competing in pairs, 42 children played first against competitors in their box, before box winners then competed in the semi finals. The standard was ferocious and all the boys and girls showed great determination to win as they went from court to court, often playing long matches with short breaks in between.

Russell House fielded four pairs altogether and their first and second girls' teams both made it to the top of their box to face each other in the semi-final. Russell House I went on to the final and Russell House II played Granville II in competition for the third placing and the lure of a cup.

Both teams came away successful from their final matches, with the Russell House first team of Orissa Welsh and Rose Johnston winning the tournament and the second team of Abigail Imas and Martha Reeve coming third.

Final results were: Girls: Russell House I first, Kent College I second and Russell House II third.

In the boys' event, New Beacon I came first, Dulwich Prep I second and Dulwich Prep II third.
