Herne Bay restaurant Le Petit Poisson receives the AA's stamp of approval
HERNE Bay fish restaurant Le Petit Poisson has a new award to hang next to its trademark three fishes and Les Routiers plaque, after receiving the AA's stamp of approval.
The restaurant next to the pier is the only one in town to get the AA rosette, and one of only six in the whole Canterbury district.
Owners Philip Guy and Valerie Kersten took over the restaurant in June 2005 and have just completed a £200,000 refurbishment.
They are planning to launch a fresh shellfish deli and takeaway this summer, a scenic roof terrace, and introduce continental-style pavement seating outside the restaurant.

Former engineer Philip, 47, said: "I grew up in London, but my grandparents lived here and I would often spend summers in Whitstable as a child.
"One summer I saw a tractor on the beach at Seasalter and found out they were growing oysters. I became hooked and ended up working there.
"I ended up taking over the business."
Head chef Alan Ford has been at the restaurant for two years.
He said: "The award is great news. It is by customer recommendations."
Alan started work at 16 while taking a three-year NVQ catering course at Canterbury College.
His first job was at the White Horse Inn, in Boughton.
He worked in Normandy and at Whitstable Harbour's Crab & Winkle restaurant, before he was head-hunted to work at Le Petit Poisson.
