Heritage team look into store's impact on park
HERITAGE bosses will visit Dreamland next week to see the effect of a proposed controversial Tesco superstore overlooking the park.
English Heritage will visit Margate to view the site in the context of the proposed development behind Arlington House as they were unaware of the scale of the project and the potential impact on the site.

OVERSHADOW? English Heritage is investigating the impact of a Tesco superstore on Margate's iconic Dreamland
The Scenic Railway was recently upgraded to a Grade II* listing by English Heritage and the new listing could scupper plans to build a megastore on the seafront site.
Campaigners have published a scale drawing of how Dreamland would look in the shadow of a Tesco superstore.
Margate Town Partnership recently backed the campaign to oppose such a large development after residents and conservationists challenged the council's decision to give developers Freshwater the go-ahead.
Concerns regarding traffic congestion, overnight deliveries and the likelihood of refurbishments were ignored by the planning committee when the proposal was recommended in July.
Freshwater says that if it is given permission for the Tesco – the size of two football pitches – then it will kickstart the redevelopment of the site including restaining the towerblock and turning the current derelict arcade of shops into a hotel.
