Borderers batted first, but were all out for 153, only three of the batsmen reaching 20 – Patrick Green (28), Wood (24) and David Green (27no).
For Robertsbridge, Adam Neill took 4-30 and James Pexton 2-10.
Robertsbridge's first few batsmen had some problems making headway until the arrival of Richard Hawthorne (42), with Stuart Miller finishing 32no.
Hastings and St Leo'ds IV: 126ao
Wells Borderers II: 130-5
Borderers won by 5 wickets
AFTER winning the toss, Borderers's seconds elected to bowl against Hastings Priory. It was a case of men v boys as the oldest Hastings player was their captain, Chris Mills, at 19 years, but he opened the batting and looked very good for his 42. However, wickets fell all around and it was not until their number seven came on that another player got to double figures.
It was their number eight, a player known only as FAB in the score book, who brought some respectability to the innings with a swashbuckling 42.
The bowling was shared with all six bowlers getting at least one wicket – the pick being Ken Jones (2-17 off eight over, five maidens).
The innings finished with a special moment for 14-year-old James Brooker, who took his first wicket in senior cricket – a stumping fittingly completed by his father, John.
The Borderers reply started slowly with the young Robertsbridge opening bowlers bowling at a fair pace with some accuracy. At 29–2 after 16 overs, matters were not looking that rosy, but Ken Jones and Graham Bishopp put on 70 for the next wicket to ease any fears and got home with five wickets to spare. Bishopp produced a fine 59no in his first appearance of the season.
S Turpin's, bowling two spells for Robertsbrige, was the stand-out bowling performance with 2-25 in his 13 overs.
So Borderers stay in the hunt for promotion, but this weekend the encounter with table-topping Chiddingly will be a different proposition.
Wells Borderers III: 195ao
Rye III: 73ao
Borderers won by 122 runs
BORDERERS's thirds completed their third successive win in emphatic fashion in defeating promotion-chasing Rye III by the comprehensive margin of 122 runs.
Borderers were inserted and compiled a well-constructed innings, being bowled out in the last of their allocation of 50 overs.
Opener Patrick Anderson (61) with 11 boundaries showed excellent placement and timing and was well supported by Beth Freeman (16) in adding 41 for the fourth wicket.
The second half of the innings was dominated by Tom Cameron (34) with as 51 runs were added in the closing 10 overs to post a commanding total on a difficult wicket.
The home side's reply was in disarray at 13-5 after 15 overs as no one had the technique required to master the conditions. John Sweeney returned 5-28, although opening bowler partner Josh Moor produced an economical return of only seven runs conceded in his eight overs, which maintained the pressure on Rye.
All the bowlers were well supported by the best fielding display of the season.
Patrick Anderson was again exemplary behind the wicket with two sharp stumpings and Tom Cameron capped an outstanding all-round contribution with a stunning catch, diving forward at deep point.
Zane Buchanan (3-5) wrapped up proceedings as Rye's effort petered out in the 36th over and the rout was completed.
Borderers aim to continue their fine form at home to Seaford on Saturday (tomorrow).
