Granville girls take both spots in primary final
GRANVILLE certainly made quite a racket by dominating the Kent Primary Schools Mini-Red Tennis Championships.
Not only did the Sevenoaks school see their A team win the competition, they had to beat their B team in the final at Bromley.
Liz Cummins, head of sport, who coaches the girls with Linda Holland, said it was a special achievement.
"It's not something that happens every day," she said. "It's great for the school. We are pretty good at sport, but this does mean a lot to us. It puts the school in such a good position."

The Year 2 and 3 teams played four singles and two doubles matches against each school in their section. The winner of each match was the first to gain ten points. Granville's Venetia Barker won all her matches and gained the highest score, putting The Granville A team in a good position.
Granville's matches against Derwent Lodge B gave them a convincing win. They faced stronger opposition against Russell House and Derwent Lodge A, but went on to beat both Ightham and Sevenoaks County Primary. This meant both the Granville teams won their respective groups and they had to face each other in a nail biting final. Both teams played well but the Granville A team were the overall Kent Champions with Granville B team placed as runners up.
"The girls played exceptionally well," Cummins said. "The school can't take all the praise because the girls belong to clubs, but it's a great achievement."
The Granville A team: Venetia Barker, Lauren Brooke, Cara McCann, Kitty Pope
The Granville B team: Telia Green, Lilly Hinds, Emma Hughes, Eva McDonagh.
The tennis season is in full swing and next week the older girls compete in the Mini Orange Tournament at Bromley. You wouldn't bet against Granville having similar success.
