Gills pair may finally get chance to shine
IT'S time to see whether the bonding night, boxing and yoga have paid off for Ramsgate.
They're set to return to action tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm) with a home match against Burgess Hill after a frustrating fortnight of postponements.
Boss Jim Ward and his coaches came up with all sorts to keep the players entertained during the poor weather, even drafting in wife Muriel to run a yoga class.
Fans could get a first look at Gillingham work experience duo Jack Parter and Bradley Dack who were introduced to the rest of the squad at a bonding night.
Gills youth coach Darren Hare wants to see how the pair will fare in men's football.
He said: "Bradley has scored 20 goals from midfield this season which says it all.
"He is small but tenacious and this environment will get him to manage that aggression better. He will get into the box for you every time and is a very neat finisher.
"Jack (right-back or left-back) is very athletic, quick and has an unbelievable engine.
"He has played many reserve fixtures and is more than capable of playing men's football now.
"He needs to improve more with the ball to be consistent but he is a great defender and we have high hopes for him."
Talking of Gillingham, goalie Daren Hawkes, who spent two months on loan at Ramsgate at the start of the season, found himself on telly on Monday night.
He was recalled from a loan spell at Maidstone and named on the bench as Gills took on Southend United at Priestfield in a match shown live on Sky Sports. United won the game 2-1 with Hawkes an unused substitute.
