Funds roll in for skatepark and outdoor gym in Capel-le-Ferne
A GROUP of youngsters have secured funding for a new skatepark and outdoor gym in Capel-le-Ferne.
The friends filled out complex application forms themselves to bid for cash and to get the playing fields around the village hall in Lancaster Avenue protected from redevelopment.

Helped by Dover District Council community development officer Lynn Brisley and Capel parish clerk Maureen Leppard, the children have so far received £2,500 in funding from local authorities and another £2,000 from Councillor Bryan Cope.
Volunteers lobbied local residents to find out exactly how the community would like to improve their recreational space. Opinions were gathered and 203 people said that they would help with the projects.

In a boost to their efforts, local firm Capel Groundworks has also offered discounts amounting to more than £14,000 for surfacing, fencing and paths.
Dan Parks, 15, said: "We were really bored and used the streets and pavements as our own skate ramps and jumps.
"But we know that it's not safe so a skatepark would be so amazing.
"We're really pleased with getting the money together."
It is hoped the skatepark cash will kickstart more bids and support for further funding.
As part of the community plans, it is hoped there will also be an outdoor gym as well as a zip-wire and a petanque area catering for all ages and abilities.
Mrs Brisley added: "We still have a long way to go, but with the support we have in the community we are determined to produce our Jubilee and Olympic legacy.
"We've also been helped by having the fields granted Queen Elizabeth II status – this safeguards our outdoor recreational space for future generations in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee and is a permanent tribute to Queen Elizabeth II."
Proceeds from Capel's Diamond Jubilee celebrations on Tuesday, June 5, from 10am to 4pm, will also go towards the project.
A hog roast, beer tent and stunt bike demonstration by Bike Trial European Cup winner and British champion James Sheridan have all been arranged, along with an extended farmers' market.
Sam Drake, 15, added: "I can't wait for the skatepark to be built, it's going to be so much fun."
