Free clubs and organisations event for youngsters at Sandwich Tech on Saturday
YOUNGSTERS are being urged to turn up for a showcase event in Sandwich this Saturday.
The Stepping Into Clubs day is being organised by James Brown of Dover district Extended Schools (DES) service, and will be held at Sandwich Tech between 10am and 2pm.
The aim is for clubs to show district youngsters what they can offer. Some 30 clubs have signed up including Girl Guides and groups covering chess, football, karate, dance, water sports, bellringing, horse riding and rugby.
Deal Town Rangers and Walmer Cricket Club will run coaching sessions.
Throughout June two people can have their teeth whitened for the offer price of £120.00.
Terms: Treatments must be taken at the same time.
Contact: 01227 201091
Valid until: Sunday, June 30 2013
Mr Brown has runs DES alone since government funding for the scheme was cut in 2010. The project is now financed by district schools.
The service, which costs £100,000 a year to run, has been behind a variety of district projects including the Pass The Passion school Olympic programme and The Wave Project supporting vulnerable youngsters moving from primary to secondary education.
The event is free although young children need to be accompanied by an adult.
Mr Brown said: "This will hopefully result in more children and young people joining local clubs and associations and giving themselves something purposeful to do outside of school hours."
