BAGS for life with the Eden Valley logo are to be distributed in the coming months.

The reusable bags will be given out by members of the Eden Valley Tourism Forum and Edenbridge Town Council.

Town council chairman, Cllr Jill Davison, said at last Friday's meeting of the forum: "We thought that it would be too complicated to give these out to a variety of sources if we charged, so we thought it was better to put this down to publicity for the area."

The town council's amenities committee decided that in conjunction with World Environment Day in June all participants in the proposed Litter-blitz would receive a bag, as well as shoppers at the Thursday market and at the Friday Farmers' Market at Self Unlimited. Some are to be distributed at Edenbridge Hospital Fete to raise awareness of the need of sustainable living. There are also 500 bags for the tourism forum to hand out to advertise the area. The £1,600 funding of the bags was met by the council.
