Proceeds from the event will go towards the Westgate Community Trust, which is converting the hall – once threatened with demolition by the city council – into a community cinema.

Harmonica player Brendan, who was born in New Zealand but adopted Canterbury as his home ten years ago, is a member of the trust.

He said: "It is important to cherish this space."

Multi-instrumentalist Tim lives in Broadstairs but was born in Canterbury.

The pair bounce off each other, improvising as they draw on musical traditions ranging from the blues and Celtic to pop.

Brendan said: "We even surprise ourselves sometimes."

Tim said: "Our sound is real, hands-on which touches the heart. Perhaps in difficult times people need authenticity."

The pair's new CD, Wriggle and Writhe, will be on sale at the concert.

A DVD called Live At The Westgate Hall, will be produced on the night with interviews and chord sheets added later.

Tickets cost £9 plus £1.15 booking fee (or £12 on the door) from www.timedeyandbrendan power.eventbrite.co.uk Doors open 7pm.
