Flint's tone is perfect to retain Division 1 crown
Division 1
Broadstairs v Westgate
WESTGATE retained the Division 1 title on a tense night against their closest rivals.
Broadstairs lost main man Andy Bailey in the fourth over and finished on 96 with Andy Marshall (31) and Neil Brennan (25) leading the way.
Jake Benfield (0-8) was almost unplayable and with Chris Kidd taking 1-11, Westgate were in serious trouble at 24-2 and needing to score at 12 an over.
But man-of-the-match Chris Flint batted through the innings and had an able partner in the fleet-footed Jason Meikle.
Flint held his nerve after Meikle was dismissed with 14 still required and an overthrow from the penultimate ball saw Westgate home.
Broadstairs A v Westgate A
A ONE-SIDED affair saw Westgate A skittled for just 27, Anthony Tuddenham (2-6) and Sam Winsor (1-4) the pick of the bowlers.
Broadstairs went for a quick victory and were back in the changing rooms after 17 balls, despite losing two wickets.
Old Harts A v Sandwich
STEVE SIMONINI scored 23 in one over to turn the match Harts' way.
Kane Smith (34*) and Bob Guild (30*) finished the job as Harts won from the final ball.
It was hard on Craig Snell who'd top-scored with 53* in Sandwich's 119 while hard-hitting Jamie Bolt made 38.
Old Harts v Sturry
HARTS first team won a thriller with three balls to spare.
Martin Osbourne (22) and John Archer (21) helped Sturry to 118.
Curtis Jordan (26*), Aston Smith (16) and Stafford Cox (21) played their part and while Tom Hammond took 2-28, skipper Josh Smith (25*) and Gary Impett got the job done.
Division 2
St Nicholas v Sandwich D
SANDWICH D were comfortable winners over five-man St Nicholas.
Mark Baldock (32) and Clive Thurgate saw them to 110, Josh Williamson with 2-18.
Dan Carter (32) was the last man out as St Nicholas were dismissed for 56, Ben Thurgate (1-2) and Will Thurgate (1-19) bowling well.
Ash v Sandwich B
ZAC FAGG (25*) and Gavin Lawrence (26*) put on 71 for the first wicket in reply to Ash's 78 to help Sandwich to their second win of the night.
Tim Laslett (25*) and J Smith (24) added 52 for the second Ash wicket. But Sandwich eased home in the ninth over.
Nelson v Sandwich A
SANDWICH A made it a hat-trick of victories for the club in one night.
Stuart Smith (25) and Connor Summers (25) saw Sandwich to 76 although they lost their last five wickets for just six runs.
Glenn Tift (13) top-scored in reply but Nelson were bowled out for 38.
Corinthians v St Nicholas
A DECENT start set up victory for St Nicholas, with Dan Carter (28*), David Cain (25) and Paul Jones (22) batting well.
Saints lost three wickets for three runs late on to finish on 98.
Ross Howells top-scored with 20 in reply but with the last two batsmen not scoring, Corinthians were dismissed for 77.
Minster v Sandwich D
MINSTER'S five men were run ragged in the field as Sandwich D clocked up a match-winning 131.
Ben Thurgate (32*), Mark Baldock (26) and Clive Thurgate (19) shared a first-wicket stand of 95 while Will Thurgate (17) added late runs, Dave Ridley (0-15) bowling impeccably while Kevin Hulks took 3-40.
In reply, Dominic Vernon made 23* as Minster reached 80.
Nelson v Ash
ASH recovered from the loss of an early wicket to beat Nelson.
Pete Carey (48*) top-scored and Vernon Laslett hit 26 as Ash reached 124.
Dave Walton was stumped for 47 off the bowling of Neil Hopkins (2-19) as Nelson fell nine runs short with four balls left, Glenn Tift with 27.
Division 3
Pegasus v Old Harts C
PEGASUS returned to winning ways against Old Harts.
John Haddock (29*) and Chris Ross (20) got them going and Eric Banning breezed to 28* as Pegasus reached 106, despite a good spell from Trish Channabhai (2-17).
Ross picked up 3-13 – all clean-bowled – as the Old Boys were restricted to 63, Channabhai (30) also their top performer with the bat.
Worth v Sandwich C
AATIF MALIK and Arslan Sahi hit unbeaten 26s in Worth's winning total of 97.
Paul Goatham made 22 and Dave Scarr (25) retired but Sahi's fine spell of 1-11 pegged back the Townies to 72.
Division 4
Westgate B v Nelson
CHRIS WOODALL top-scored again as Westgate edged Nelson.
He made 35* and Steve Winch hit 27* as the Gate reached 104.
Duncan Cotton finished on 33* to add to earlier knocks from Perry Gillman (23) and Stuart Cotton (20) but Nelson fell two runs short.
Broadstairs D v Westgate C
JACK NEWMAN made 29* on a winning debut for Westgate C.
His side wound up on 97, with Newman, James Hogg (30) and Gary Sandwell (16) adding 74 for the first wicket.
Matt Frewin (20) and Andy Fowler (19) did well for Broadstairs but John Turner took 3-11 in 10 balls to dismiss Broadstairs for 67.
Margate v Minster A
JAMES DEWELL (31*) saw Margate home in the penultimate over.
Minster lost a wicket in the second over to Simon Jackson (1-27) but Mark Fox (23) and Jim Baker (32*) led them to 83.
The game was evenly poised with Margate 71-3 in reply but solid batting from Dewell did the job.
Division 5
Dumpton v Corinthians A
CORINTHIANS made a poor start but hit back in style.
Craig Alder (2-22) and Dan Carter (1-17) put them in trouble but Gary Larkins (26*) and Kieron Ives (26) led the recovery, giving Steve Post and Neil Farnham licence to contribute to a third-wicket stand of 82 as Corinthians reached 106.
Carter (25*) top-scored for Dumpton but they could only make 67.
