Festival to celebrate fish trade
CELEBRATIONS of Ramsgate's fishing heritage take place this Easter in the first Feast O' Fish at the East Pier Yard.
Banqueting tables will be laid out to provide a unique setting for the guests and diners at the heart of Ramsgate's fishing industry, and local fish restaurants, fish suppliers and seafood stalls will provide a feast.
There will be entertainment, music and events, and a "living theatre of nautical characters" including fishwives, sea captains and battling superhero crustaceans, along with dancers, singers and bands, and other performers. Craft workshops will keep younger guests busy during the day.
The Feast O' Fish will be on Good Friday, April 6 and is being coordinated by Ramsgate company Artaha and has been supported by KCC, Ramsgate Town Council and county councillor Liz Green.
A spokesman said: "By showcasing the produce of Ramsgate's fish restaurants, stalls and suppliers we aim to support the future prosperity of our lovely town."
