"It is also a wonderful ballet for family audiences who will delight in the story, colourful costumes, lively characters and the beautiful music from Delibes."

The story follows Dr Coppelius, a toy-maker, who has made a beautiful mechanical doll and named her Coppelia.

He places her in his shop window, where local villagers including Swanhilda and Franz are amazed by her and begin to believe she is real.

Swanhilda gets jealous when she sees Franz blowing kisses at Coppelia, so she and some of her friends break into the toy shop one day, only to be caught by Dr Coppelius.

He then tries to bring Coppelia to life, believing he has successfully done so, only to find out that he had been tricked by Swanhilda and Franz.

Ents24.com has praised the production and its "talented young dancers", saying: "Their energy and enthusiasm is breathtaking."

It is the latest show which the Vienna Festival Ballet has brought to Folkestone following the likes of Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.

Tickets cost between £13.50 and £28.50, excluding booking fees.
