Edenbridge keep up the pressure
CANTERBURY IV 7
EDENBRIDGE 41
Kent Rural League Late Red 4
EDENBRIDGE produced a superb display to make it five victories in a row.
A good win on the road for Bridge saw them score seven tries with only a dubious penalty try in response coming from the hosts.
With the league still relatively close, this was a vital win to keep Edenbridge in touch with the leading pack.
A strong and controlled display for the opening 20 minutes saw three tries scored by Dominic Mitchell, Gary Stevens and Gregg Brown.
With the score at 17-0 up, the game began to break up a little with Canterbury eventually working some phases, but the Bridge defence held firm and added another couple of tries before half-time, through Mike Pope and Gary Stevens, his second.
The game turned around at half-time with 'Bridge leading 0-29.
The second half provided the opportunity for Gary Stevens to finish his hat-trick and Alex Adams to continue to add to his tally for the season with a try of his own.
With the lead standing at 0-41 with 10 minutes to go, Canterbury's desperate search for a score led to a series of quick pick-and-goes from their number eight. They eventually got a penalty try, but it was no more than a consolation.
