EDL members distribute anti-Islam pamphlets at Margate mosque
POLICE were called to keep the peace after English Defence League (EDL) demonstrators targeted Muslim worshippers outside Margate mosque.
Two men handed out anti-Islamic propaganda before Friday prayers last week, angering some members of the congregation who then reported the incident to police.

Salah Ansari, the imam at Margate mosque, said worshippers complained of EDL members distributing offensive leaflets outside.
He agrees with the EDL that fundamentalist Muslims must be confronted but rejects the far-right group's stance against mainstream customs.

Imam Salah said: "People are free to hand out leaflets as long as they keep the peace.
"This is part of living in a pluralistic society.
"We are all against extremism and fundamentalism and you can't put all the people in one basket. I would advise them to educate themselves about Islam and ask if they have the same views of Jews and kosher."
Officers attended to calm the situation but no arrests were made.
A Kent Police spokesman said: "We were called to an address in Union Crescent at 1.50pm last Friday following a complaint from a member of the public about potentially racist material but officers found no breach of the law."
Pat Riot, leader of Thanet EDL, said: "Our aims are to highlight radical Islam through peaceful protests.
"It is not a case of colour but a rather small culture within Islam that radicalises people.
"We feel that honour killings, grooming of young girls, burqas or sharia law have no place in Britain."
The South East alliance of the English Defence League gathered in Thanet last weekend (see below) to discuss their movements and plan upcoming action to promote their views.

“I haven't a clue why Moondog thinks that Muslims pray to the moon. As far as I am aware the only significance that the moon has to Muslims is in defining the times of prayer and the religious festivals. This is also true for Christianity and Judaism.
You are quite right in your assertion that British soldiers are only carrying out the orders of rotten politicians. This is not a new situation and I ask why do they become soldiers ?
Its a bit rich to accuse me of being not sufficiently educated and complain that I am being pedantic for using accurate language definitions to try to figure out who are the 'Socialist elite' that you believe are imposing 'Islam' upon us. I think that this is an oxymoron.
In your latest post, you define the so called 'Socialist elite' as beings the 'Conservative, Labour & Liberal Democrat parties (that) are all being controlled by the EU and it's Socialist Communitarian dictators'. As far as I know, there are only four vaguely left-led governments among the EU's 27 member states (France, Austria, Slovenia and Cyprus) In this situation would you please tell us how the E.U. is controlled by Socialist Communitarian dictators.
I would also point out that I wasn't being presumptuous about your dietary preferences. You stated that you have a problem with Kosher and Halal killed meat, so I asked if you also had a problem with battery chickens. This is the exact opposite to me making presumptions.
I suppose that I shouldn't be too surprised at you quoting Churchill in your quote from his book written in 1899 called 'The River War.' After all he was the man who opposed votes for women, described Mahatma Gandi as a half-naked fakir and Hindus as a foul race.He helped lay the foundations for apartheid in South Africa, supported the compulsory sterilisation of and segregation of the "feeble-minded" and the "insane"; accused Jews of being behind a worldwide [Communist] conspiracy for the overthrow of civilisation; and anticipating the crimes of Saddam Hussein more than 60 years later, said he didn't understand the "squeamishness about the use of gas . . . "I am strongly in favour of using poisoned gas against uncivilised tribes [in Iraq]." The same man who authorised the use of troops against miners in South Wales.
In conclusion I would advise you thathave watched the rather naive video that you recommended. What this basically says is that the majority of people in a country determine its government and that minority groups have less influence.”

“I call my self Moondog, it is a twist on Moon god who Muslims pray to, and I don't give a damn why you chose your alias. Our service personnel are not to blame they are carrying out orders ultimately from our rotten politicians. If you haven't educated yourself enough to know who the Socialist elite are then, i suggest you do so before being pedantic with my words. Don't be so presumptuous about what I campaign about or my dietary needs!! Conservative, Labour & Liberal Democrat parties are all being controlled by the EU and it's Socialist Communitarian dictators, it has long been accepted that there is very little difference between these three parties, now all left of center. Concerning the Churchill quote I don't really care how accurate I am!!! And here is another quote and a short video for you to watch: " How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy". http://tinyurl.com/ckfjwy7”

“In response to Moondog:
It was shameful that a handful of so called Muslims abused British dead servicemen. In so doing, they have also abused the Islamic religion and have rightly been condemned by ordinary UK Muslims.
However, we should not forget that these British servicemen were members of an army that invaded another country and killed many of the people including women and children. We cannot be surprised that people of other countries who share the same religion are very angry about this situation.
With regard to his comments on Halal and Kosher killed meat, I would ask him if he is also going to campaign against battery kept chickens and refuse to eat chicken and eggs? It might be easier if he became a Vegan.
His comment that 'Islam is being foisted upon us by the Socialist elite' is confusing. My dictionary defines 'Socialism' as 'an economic theory or system in which the means of production, distribution, and exchange are owned by the community collectively, usually through the state'. It define 'Elite' as a group or class of persons or a member of such a group or class, enjoying superior intellectual, social, or economic status. How does this fit in with the UK government that is a coalition between the Conservative & Liberal Democrat Parties?
I should also point out that Winston Churchill wasn't referring to Islam when he made his comment about 'appeasement'. He said this in WW2 and was referring to Hitler.
It is interesting that you chose to use the pen name of 'Moondog'. He was an eccentric blind
American poet and musician who was known as the Viking of 6th Avenue. He lived on the New York streets and dressed as the Norse god Odin.
My pen name of 'Sojourner' (Meaning: one who stays for a time) is taken from Sojourner Truth who was born an American slave and originally given the name of her owner. She became a tireless worker for black and women's civil rights.”

“According to your article, the name of the alleged leader of Thanet EDL is Pat Riot. Didn't this name ring any alarm bells with you reporter as being false? Pat Riot without a space between the forename and surname reads 'patriot'.”
