Invicta Dynamos 6

Wightlink Raiders 5

RICHARD Bentham's first goal for Dynamos - alongside efforts from Justin Noble (2), Ryan Ellis, Andy Smith and Corey Watkins - saw the club return to winning ways on Sunday in a thriller in Gillingham.

They got off to a flyer as Watkins roofed the puck beyond the goalie and doubled it when Smith finished from left of the target.

Their advantage was halved by the break, however, when, with his Isle of Wight side on the powerplay, Larter fired beyond Andy Moffat from the blue line.

In the second period the visitors pulled level with a penalty after a foul by Watkins.

In a frantic final frame the teams traded seven goals in a big drive for maximum points.

The visitors went ahead following a goalmouth scramble but an Ellis solo strike restored parity at 3-3 with a slapshot from the edge of the offensive zone.

Raiders were quickly back in front when a shot was deflected beyond Moffat but Noble levelled with a fine strike from an acute angle and doubled his tally to put the Dynamos 5-4 up as he fired under keeper McAllister

Bentham gave them a two-goal cushion with a low drive from deep that slipped inside the near post before Raiders pulled one back late on.

The visitors were unable to find a sixth and slipped to their second defeat of the weekend as Dynamos secured a win that will do much to boost morale after the previous weekend's disappointment.

Smith took the man-of-the- match award for Invicta, who now prepare for another tough encounter as they host Romford on Sunday (5.15pm) in their first ENIHL Cup outing.
